It has been said, "Not all learning takes place in the classroom." Compare and contrast knowledge gained from personal experience with knowledge gained from classroom instruction. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?
Some people think a student has to be in a class room to learn something. They push a student in a classroom because they think knowledge from the classroom is more important than from personal experience. I do not agree with them. Knowledge that somebody has already experienced is not easy to forget, so she/he can reduce making mistakes when she/he confronts a similar situation. Therefore, she/he can make the best decision. I will explain this using my own experience.
At first, knowledge from experience is rarely forgotten because my body has already learned how to do something. When I was a child, I didn’t know how dangerous a car was on the street. Even though my parents told me to be careful of the cars on the street very strongly, I didn’t accept what they told me. It was a normal day, I was walking on the street, and I saw my sister on the opposite side of the road. I didn’t check if I could cross the road safely. I just ran toward my sister. On the road, there was a car that was heading toward me. As soon as the driver saw me, he pushed the break pedal. Fortunately, the car stopped just in front of me. I started to cry. After that, I never crossed a road without looking both ways.
The second reason is knowledge from experience can reduce mistakes. It is said, “Practice makes perfect.” This proverb is to emphasize how important practice is, but it means how much significant the experience is. Although it would be quite hard to make something perfect without practice, we would avoid making mistakes with experience because we could guess what would happen after some happenings that we have already experienced.
When we consider these two reasons, we can be sure we will make the best result using our/plenty of experience. In the past, our ancestor invented a letter to store their mistakes. We have been storing our mistakes from experience since then. We can learn it in a classroom, but there is a very big difference between knowing and doing. Even though we know how to do something, we cannot do it frequently. It’s very important to try to do it before we conclude we know something. Trying to do it means experience.
Consequently, we should have enough experience to achieve something we want. I don’t think we have to experience everything because sometimes we can guess them learning from a textbook. The best way to learn something is a combination of knowledge from a classroom and experience. For example, we cannot experience life after dead.
